The extended family got a real kick out of Pumpkin’s yet unidentified speech problem. My brother couldn’t stop making her say “fish” which comes out more like “wit” since she can’t make the “f” sound or the “sh” sound. On the bright side, this speech problem could keep her from developing a trucker’s mouth.

When the group of us finally made it to the top of the hill, all we could say was “Dam!”(It would be funnier if you could see the dam a little better in this picture. Oh well, I tried).

Another favorite Dutch Oven recipe. Once again – it’s not exact. Layer into the dutch oven: one loaf of bread (chopped into cubes) cooked and crumbled sausage about 1/2 lb? grated cheese – about 1 cup? 1 can green chiles Beat together: 12 eggs 2 cups milk salt and pepper Pour egg mixture over layered […]

The coolest part of our family Pounce Tournament tradition is the winner’s trophy (something I will never actually get to hold since I always lose in the first round bringing much shame to the first generation of players of which I am a part).

One of my favorite things about camping is cooking in my dutch oven. This cobbler is less sweet than most (which is why I like it) but is a delicious way to eat up all the fresh summer fruits. Please Note: This recipe is not exact in any way. Good Luck! 3 baskets of berries […]

In between boat trips out on the lake, I watched my macho teenage nephews spend an enormous amount of time and serious creative energy on this impressive sand castle. These are the same ones that produced a number of friendship bracelets over the weekend and showed up most of the girls at double dutch.

What better camping craft than friendship bracelets? My niece supplied the materials and the instructions for this “can’t believe it’s cool again” craft. I went with a complicated bracelet pattern which includes lettering. Hopefully I finish it before next year’s camping trip.

Before getting our feet dirty at camp, we stopped to get our hands dirty at Avila Valley Barn (we also picked up some fresh berries and peaches for our dutch oven cobbler).
