It’s Probably Not PC to Call Something "The Best White Trash Snack"

by This is Carrie on January 29, 2009

But I can’t think of any other way to describe my FAVORITE snack — Fried Cheerios.
1. Melt butter in a frypan (about 1 T per cup of cheerios)
2. Add Cheerios and saute until golden brown
3. Add salt to taste.

Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

I make these every once in awhile, and I always think of you.

I’ve also made fried Rice/Corn Chex. Very Tasty.

Oh my gosh! We always to that with KIX- my grandma taught us how! I thought we were the only ones in the world…

Hilarious – but it does sound kinda yummy. I have tons of Cheerios around maybe I’ll try it.

You’ve got me interested. I think I’ll go try it.

Oh, and when I say “we” I mean my white trash family growing up!

I think my first comment got lost. I said we used to make that with cheerios, chex, and I forget what else, and now that you reminded me I am going to make some! They sell a facsimile of it in a bag but it has never been the same.

Ok, that sounds so delish! Dandilion mama has a great idea too, I bet that would be awesome with KIX. Now lets see, what else can I deep fry???

Mmmm Kix. I can’t wait to try it.

My kids love this snack, but the reality is I usually make it at night when all the kids are in bed so I can have the whole bowl to myself :).

Mama Krit is right though, frying makes everything better.

How long have you been indulging in this WTS?

This is Carrie January 30, 2009 at 2:33 am

since I was a small child. Did I never make this for you? I was probably too embarrassed.

I’m betting this won’t help lower my cholesterol like plain Cheerios will….

OMG! That is too funny! My DH introduced this to me when we first started dating and I LOVED it! We’ve sinced moved onto the Honey Nut Cheerios. Our 2 girls love it too. 🙂 Too Funny!

I thought I was the only one who ate fried Cheerios. They are the bomb! So good. Better than Chex mix.
