Making Stuff: Hankie Skirtall

I guess I’m in a skirtall mood. This one’s made from the top of some hand-me down boys overalls (overdyed in brown) and a bunch of handkerchiefs from my collection. I’d still like to figure out how to oxidize the hardware.

jewelry supply stores should have liver of sulfer. maybe that would work, it stains though and stinks.

Another way to oxidize is to put the hardware in a closed tupper with mashed up hard boiled eggs. . . really. But i don't know what that would do if anything to the fabric (other than needing a good wash afterwards)

why do it the hard way, just get a copper colored nail polish (an el-cheapy one, at that!) and give them a quick coat…
