Birthday Stuff: Don’t forget the cake and ice cream!

by This is Carrie on September 6, 2009

Cake decorating has never been my strong suit, but I always like to give it a try. Thanks to a friend, I found out our local cake supply shop rents their specialty cake pans for just $3 a day which helped us start off with a nice open book shape and the girls were more than happy to help me with the finishing touches.

And instead of your basic ice cream, we decided to spring for a party pack of rainbow ice Dippin’ Dots. Such a huge hit especially since the party fell on what might have been the HOTTEST day of the year. Not only were they unique and delicious, the kids loved how they would stick to their lips (which probably means we should have taken the little bowls off the dry ice a little sooner).
