Halloween 09: Princess as Elphaba

by This is Carrie on November 2, 2009

“Not the Wicked Witch, the misunderstood witch”
Her costume really came together thanks to makeup tips from my best makeup friend, the perfectly proportional hat from the Target 1$ section, the ruffling foot for my sewing machine and the kind people at Mel’s Sewing who were able to fix my machine at the very last minute, saving Halloween!
Little did I know how intricate the real dress from Wicked actually is. It’s bodice is patchworked from pieces no bigger than 3″ and more than 20 different fabrics. And the skirt! The tiniest ruffles I have ever seen. Our costume: about 10 different fabrics, pieced the top a little and made the ruffles 2-3″ wide.
She really got into character for the photos.
Then the real Princess broke through.

I think Elphie smiles on the line: "Alright, why not? I'll reply…oh what a pair we'll be, the wizard and I!"

AWESOMELY FANTASTIC as always. May I please be on the rental/borrow list?
