Triathlon Report Part 1: Training

by This is Carrie on March 29, 2010

I raced my first two off-road triathlons last spring and Todd raced his first one this past fall.  But the Xterra Real Mtn Bike Triathlon 2010 at Folsom Lake was to be the first triathlon we would race together.

It was great to be able to do a practice open water swim together

And thanks to Grandma and Grandpa watching the kids back at home, we were able to get up to Folsom the day before the race and pre-ride the course together.

It really is one of the most beautiful mountain bike trails I have ever been on.

You guys just LOOK so cool. Like I told you on Saturday, you’ll never get me to participate in one of these pieces of craziness (Sam, maybe) but I will be the best cheerleader EVER. Really proud of you guys – you are so awesome and such an inspiration 🙂

I love that area and miss it! I grew up in El Dorado Hills and spent many summers at Folsom Lake. It really is a beautiful place.

Hey cool! My (successful) sprint tri racing convinced me to stick with duathlons from now on. Open water swimming freaks me out a bit too much, and being surrounded by dozens to hundreds of others eager to reach the finish line doesn’t help. I look forward to returning to those races when my son’s old enough that I have the time to train again.

What distance are you racing?
