A Girl’s First Mountain Bike Race

by This is Carrie on June 25, 2010

With her new jersey, and custom “stealth” Team Sparkle skirt, Princess was ready to take on the inaugural Over the Hump Kid’s Mountain Bike Race.

Lining up at the start line, we quickly realized she was the only girl signed up to race.

Her proudest moment was powering to the top of a long(ish) gradual climb without stepping off her single gear bike.  She made it through gravel and sand, maneuvured around ruts and rode across the water bridge to finish in 10:39.

Even though she came in tenth out of eleven, she claimed the title of “Fastest Girl” and has an official Over the Hump glass to prove it.

Now Team Poseidon can claim two of the fastest girls in the race series.

She definitely takes after her mom. Imagine what kind of athlete she’ll be when she’s our age. Congrats on a great race!

Your daughter is awesome! Kicked butt in the race and looked cute too. Well done to her, and to you mama – you must be very proud.
