Let’s Go Rafting

by This is Carrie on June 1, 2010

When my nephew called to tell me about his new job with River’s End Rafting & Adventure Co & offered to arrange a trip for the family down the Kern River, I happily accepted.

It was a gorgeous day for a mini-getaway down the river.  Our guide, Jimmy, navigated and entertained with his favorite oar, Paddle McConaughey, at his side.  It was crazy to think this little gem of an adventure was less than two hours outside Los Angeles.

At first, Princess was excited to have made the age cutoff for the trip, but soon her nerves couldn’t be hidden anymore and she was wishing she was back with the other kids at Grandma & Grandpa’s house.  I told her, “Don’t worry it’s just like a roller coaster just without the seat belt.”  She was a great sport, braving the class II & III rapids, getting in the brisk water with me during “float down the river time”, putting up with our teasing, and even having some fun in the process.

I’m glad your family had a good time. I hope to see you all again soon!
