Making Stuff: Shape Stretchies for Creative Movement

by This is Carrie on July 8, 2010

Shape Stretchies were some of my favorite things to play with at my sister’s house growing up.  She was a modern dance teacher and always fun ideas to promote creative movement for kids.  She introduced my kids to the “stretchies” recently and they also fell in love. That’s when I realized what a fun gift […]

Running on the 3rd of July

by This is Carrie on July 7, 2010

It can’t be fun to get passed by girls, let alone pregnant ones in red sparkle running skirts.  But we had to do what we had to do to keep our steady preggo pace.  It was nice of the super fast 30 something women to stay home that morning so I could come home with […]

Making Stuff: Ruffled T-shirt Scarf

by This is Carrie on July 7, 2010

Soon, I’ll be teaching this t-shirt refashion at a church “Chistmas in July Craft Extravaganza”.  Thanks to wonderful ruffle scarf inspiration all over the web, the always amazing ruffle tension trick (high tension, long stitch) and this rosette tutorial by Plumtickled, there was no need to reinvent the wheel.

Making Stuff: A Dress for the Fourth

by This is Carrie on July 4, 2010

When I spotted a set of red, white, & blue Ikea Pillowcases at the thrift store for .50, I knew there were homemade Fourth of July outfits in my future. Using crochet trim (pattern from Crochet Adorned), pleat details and side seam gathering this dress breaks the mold of a traditional “pillowcase dress” P.S. So […]

Other Openin’, Another Show

by This is Carrie on July 3, 2010

This last theater production was a compilation celebrating the 25th anniversary of the children’s theater company. The girls performed in “Another Openin'” from Kiss Me Kate, “Step in Time” from Mary Poppins and “The Lonely Goatheard” from The Sound of Music. When the parts were getting passed out, Princess was beyond thrilled (of course) to […]
