Making Stuff: Crocheted Baby Sweater

by This is Carrie on October 20, 2010

This sweater was started way back in the spring, right after I found out I was pregnant.Β  When I found out I was having a boy, the little sweater sat unfinished for months and months.

I finally finished all of the crocheting during the quiet, relaxing moments of our summer vacation to Brian Head only to have it sit once again for months until I found the perfect hand-dyed silk ribbon to use as the front closure.

Pattern: Soft & Sweet Layette from Leisure Arts Baby Layettes and Afghans (modified to short sleeves)

Yarn: Naturally Caron Spa in Dark Driftwood

I just knit a baby sweater with that same yarn. I love how soft it is when it is all knit up.

What a Beautiful sweater! Makes me want to pick up some crocheting again:o) Maybe I’ll wait till I have a girl one day don’t think my boys would want to be so pretty:o)

You could always use a different colour ribbon… something more boyish πŸ™‚

The entire sweater pattern is just a little to “sweet” for my little boy tastes. I really should have picked out a more unisex pattern from the beginning, but the stitch and the scallops called to me.

I love the Spa yarn. One of my favorites lately.

I love this pattern. I have never heard of Spa yarn. Is it available at all places where they sell yarn? (JoAnns? Michaels?)

Yep, I picked up the yarn at JoAnn’s during their big yarn sale. It’s a bamboo blend and so soft.

That sweater is just gorgeous! I love it! I think I have to find that pattern and make one for my 8 months old before she is too big to wear it! I am crazy about the vintage look!! So who will be the lucky wearer? Next baby? A friend? Someone will be very happy.

Hello,
I spent so many hours looking for a baby cardigan pattern and I just fell in love with this one. I wanted to make a gift for my cousin’ newborn girl and this was the only pattern that I really liked. It looks so simple but I find it very elegant and special.
I tried to buy a pattern from the site you indicated but I kept having problems, it kept saying that my cart was empty. I am so desparate to have it. Is there any possibily I could get it from you. I would like to buy it.

I have been browsing online more than 4 hours today, yet I never
found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth
enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful
than ever before.

Very quickly this website will be famous among all blogging people,
due to it’s fastidious content
