Making Stuff: Baby Bottle Crocheted Cozies

by This is Carrie on November 10, 2010

When I happened across these beautiful crochet covered bottles created by Lock & Spoon, I immediately realized how naked our baby bottles looked and went on a mission to figure out how to make my own bottle cozies. Since I’m pretty good at following crochet patterns, but not so great at creating my own, I […]

Join the Love Scarf Project

by This is Carrie on November 9, 2010

With the holiday season soon approaching, you may already have knitting and crocheting projects taking shape. If you’re on a roll, consider making up a few extra scarves and/or chemo caps for patients at City of Hope in Los Angeles, CA. Scarves and hats for the LA Love Scarf Project need to be ready in […]

Making Stuff: Felt Flower Eyepatch

by This is Carrie on November 8, 2010

Along with announcement that Pumpkin was going to need glasses came the news that she would need to patch her strong eye for an hour a day to give her weaker eye a chance to catch up again.  The optometrist suggested placing tape on the lens each day, but I immediately remembered this beautiful eye […]

The Dawn of a New Day: Potty Training

by This is Carrie on November 5, 2010

It cost me $30 in Hot Wheels, $10 in child laxatives (& almost my sanity), but I feel it’s safe to say that after three weeks of hard work, patience, a lot of luck & help from a merciful God above, Baby Brother is potty trained.  Here’s to hoping the regression once the baby comes […]

Best OC Thrift Stores

by This is Carrie on November 5, 2010

Thrift stores can be a fickle bunch; great one week and terrible the next.  With the turnover and the infinite possibilities of stock sources, you never know what treasures you’ll find.  There’s also that chance you could leave empty handed wondering what all the fuss was about.  All that aside, if you haven’t checked out […]

Goodbye Halloween Candy 2010

by This is Carrie on November 4, 2010

Yesterday was the day we said goodbye to all the excess Halloween candy (save a few small bags of favorites).  Since we’ve been donating to Operation Gratitude for as long as the kids can remember, giving their candy is just as much of a Halloween tradition as getting it.

Another Biking Trophy

by This is Carrie on November 3, 2010

Princess is getting good enough on her mountain bike that Todd decided it was time to start taking her on longer, more challenging, Daddy/Daughter rides.  On their first 10 mile ride, she came home with an excellent trophy.  Luckily, biking trophies like these are valued just as much as the shiny metal ones in our […]

Making Stuff: Crocheted Granny Skull Cap

by This is Carrie on November 2, 2010

Instead of buying something to donate to the Kindergarten “Baby” themed auction basket, I decided to make something. This little crocheted skull cap came together really quickly while the kids ran around the cul de sac and I sat outside enjoying a perfect Southern California fall afternoon. Hat Pattern: Granny Skull Cap from Luv2Crochet.com (free) […]

Halloween 2010: The Justice League

by This is Carrie on November 1, 2010

Pumpkin was more than happy to wear Princess’s old Wonder Woman costume from three years ago, Baby Brother really got into character as “nana nana nana nana, BATMAN!”, Princess rocked her Batgirl getup, Todd enjoyed being a subtle yet effective Clark Kent, and I was the only villian in the mix, Catwoman. The best part […]

Pumpkin Carving

by This is Carrie on November 1, 2010

Each year, the kids usually draw their pumpkin faces on paper and I do the (sometimes frustrating) carving process.  This year, the girls were intent on doing their own carving and I think they did a pretty great job.  I still carved Baby Brother’s pumpkin based on one of his first “recognizable” drawings: “a spider”.
