Christmas 2010

by This is Carrie on December 31, 2010

We will remember Christmas 2010 as the year Grandma came to visit, Princess beautifully read aloud the Christmas Story from the Bible, and Pumpkin got a Nintendo DSi (even when she told Santa all she wanted was a Nintendo DS). It was also the year I sent one of Brother’s Stomp Rockets up into the […]

When Grandma Comes to Town

by This is Carrie on December 29, 2010

With the recent addition to the family, we decided not to make our traditional holiday trip to visit family in Utah. Instead, Todd’s mom came down to visit us. So we went ice skating. Princess was cautious barely falling once while Pumpkin skated with tenacity even while landing on her behind every few minutes.  Brother […]

Making Stuff: Crochet Earrings

by This is Carrie on December 28, 2010

Following my obvious affinity for crochet projects this holiday season, I made a few sets of crocheted earrings for my girlfriends. Pattern from Crochet Adorned (a crochet book totally worth investing in). Findings from Le Cotillon.

Making Stuff: Crocheted Doily Necklace

by This is Carrie on December 22, 2010

While I was working on all my Savers Thrift Store inspired, holiday, crocheted doily projects, I remembered a great little tutorial I came across for a crocheted doily necklace–a perfect girlfriend gift. I gathered a selection of doilies from my thrifted & estate sale acquired collection and hardware from the local bead shop. This necklace […]

by This is Carrie on December 21, 2010

The crocheted snowflake ornaments wasn’t the only Savers holiday DIY project that spoke to me.  Turning a thrifted doily into bowl is a brilliant idea for anytime of the year. Once again, my local Savers thrift store did not let me down, supplying me with the perfect doily for less than $2.  Now I just […]

Making Stuff: Cheater Crochet Ornaments

by This is Carrie on December 20, 2010

Ever since I discovered Savers awesome DIY tutorials back in October (the Barbie Zombie Garden was such a cool idea), I couldn’t wait to see what they’d come up with for the Holidays. I immediately fell in love with their upcycled snowflake ornament idea and headed to my local Savers to find the needed supplies. […]

Making Stuff: Fabric Flower Hair Clips

by This is Carrie on December 17, 2010

While Grandma was in town a few weeks ago, we experimented with a few fabric flower tutorials we found online. Grandma was thinking about gifts for the granddaughters and I was thinking about gifts for the little girls in the neighborhood.  With a bag full of scrap fabric and a box full of beads gifted […]

Making Stuff: Four Felted Bucket Hats

by This is Carrie on December 16, 2010

This past month I crocheted and felted four bucket hats and not one of them turned out to be the right size for the little girl I was hoping to gift it to. On the bright side, I feel like a crocheted bucket hat & felting pro (except for the whole sizing aspect obviously). At […]

Toys for Tots

by This is Carrie on December 15, 2010

My favorite part of the neighborhood Christmas party is seeing the Marines come to pick up the pile of collected toys at the end of the night. Find your local Toys for Tots drop-off here.
