Making Stuff: Crocheted Doily Necklace

by This is Carrie on December 22, 2010

While I was working on all my Savers Thrift Store inspired, holiday, crocheted doily projects, I remembered a great little tutorial I came across for a crocheted doily necklace–a perfect girlfriend gift.

I gathered a selection of doilies from my thrifted & estate sale acquired collection and hardware from the local bead shop.

This necklace got some added embellishments to cover a little stain.

These crocheted motifs made great “snowflake” ornaments as well as a great necklace.

When I found this blue doily at Savers Thrift Store ($1) as well as a perfect chain necklace ($1.99) it was easy (and cheap) to make one last necklace for myself.

These are really lovely. I was thinking I would make some doily necklaces for friends and this really inspires me. I’ve made thicker flower ones for children but I think that the finer weight thread and the addition of the metal makes them more suitable for adults.

Congratulations!
