Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. with a Day of Service

by This is Carrie on January 19, 2011

I strapped on the baby and we spent the morning participating in another beach clean up with Kim from SaveOurBeach.org. I love being around people that are so passionate about their cause.  She always takes time to talk to the kids about taking care of Mother Earth.  After an hour of picking up bags full […]

The Birth of a Family Heirloom: Crocheted Baby Blanket

by This is Carrie on January 18, 2011

My mom crochets a blanket for every new baby in the family.  It’s a crazy undertaking given the size of our family, but I’m sure glad every one of my children has a piece of her handiwork for their very own.. The Baby got his for Christmas and it perfectly coordinated with his blessing day […]

Grandpa’s Visit

by This is Carrie on January 17, 2011

The girls will remember Papa’s holiday visit as days filled with roller skating practice, multiplication drills and texting tutorials.  If there’s one thing Papa likes to do, it’s teaching people new skills. If there’s one thing Grandpa will remember about his trip it might be the gnarly, helmet-cracking, mountain bike crash he took when Todd […]

Post-Partum Exercise. I mean Training.

by This is Carrie on January 13, 2011

I have to admit that baby #4 kind of broke me.  The past seven weeks have been a roller coaster of emotion.  With a baby that is SO good, I couldn’t understand why I felt SO bad and SO overwhelmed. Little creative breaks helped, but  I honestly thought I was going crazy there for a […]

The Happiest Place on Earth

by This is Carrie on January 12, 2011

In between Christmas & New Years, our old friends, The Glass Posse. came into town and took the girls with them to Disneyland. While the weather was cold and rainy, the girls proclaimed it “THE BEST DAY EVER!” And I proclaim this as one of the best pictures ever.

Making Stuff: Kids Money Banks

by This is Carrie on January 10, 2011

I’ve never been able to find the perfect bank for the girls so we finally decided to design and make our own.  Perusing the aisles in the craft store, I found wooden boxes which I compartmentalized with an extra piece of balsa wood (also found at the craft store) and some E6000 glue.  Slots in […]

The Pinewood Derby Cars

by This is Carrie on January 9, 2011

At the Family Christmas 1st Annual Pinewood Derby Race, the creativity behind the cars was seriously impressive. Some cars, like Princess’s “Sparkle Car” entry, were quickly created at the party from pre-cut pieces of wood and a supply of girly embellishments.  Her car surprised people, coming in first in her heat against some perfectly weighted, […]

Family Christmas Party 2010

by This is Carrie on January 8, 2011

Each year, the family Christmas party is a day full of old traditions and new fun. The traditional gift exchange included 2 boxes of 30-year old canned food and a highly coveted, 2010 autographed BYU football (especially meaningful since my nephew is on the team this year).  But once my dad opened the football, no […]
