Making Stuff: Easter Dresses

by This is Carrie on April 27, 2011

When I was lucky enough to find an amazing old quilt top at my favorite thrift and vintage store a few months back, I immediately knew I wanted to use it for this year’s Easter dresses.

The thickness of the quilt top (each square was backed with a piece of fabric) dictated the simple lines of each dress.

While I decided to make the pattern for Pumpkin’s dress style, I found the perfect pattern (circa 1967) in my vintage kid’s pattern stash for Princess’s dress.  It came together so nicely, it gave me renewed resolve to dig into that pile of old patterns more often.

Other uses for quilt tops:  Skirts, Pants, Blankets, Bags

Easter dresses: 2010, 2009, 2009, 2008, 2007

They turned out so cute. I think I used the very same pattern that you used for Princess’s dress for Easter dresses for Kathi and Rochelle when they were little. I’ll bet I have pictures of them in that same dress.

I love Pumpkin’s dress. Those buttons are great, and green is such a great complement for a redhead. She has such great style. Great job on the dresses!
