Over the Hump Mountain Bike Series: Race #5

by This is Carrie on June 26, 2011

Sadly, I had to miss races #3 & 4.

Todd made it out to race #3 but ended up doing an extra lap on the course by accident.  I think it’s something he’d like to forget (which is exactly why I’m documenting it here).

Race #5 was “Family Night”, a favorite of the entire series.  Brother got to be in his first “mountain bike race” along with a bunch of other “littles” riding everything from Striders to tiny trikes to bikes with training wheels.  It was fun to watch the future of mountain biking all lined up together.

The night got even better for Brother with a trip to the bounce house and a bike-winning raffle ticket (thanks www.tykesbykes.com!)

It wasn’t my fastest night, but racing with my girlfriends always makes for a fun night.  It also didn’t hurt that biking legend, Tinker Juarez, said he loved my skirt as he sped past. And I swear there wasn’t a hint of irony or sarcasm (at least I didn’t hear it).

Results:
Todd – 45:41 (13th out of 53 earning him another trophy glass!)
Carrie – 55:20 (12th out of 22)

Do you just wear compression shorts under your skirts? I love the skirts and am thinking about getting one.

For bike riding I wear a pair of tri shorts underneath. For running, I have a pair of Athleta under shorts I love. I’ve worn them in 5Ks to marathons and they’re super comfortable. It’s the “Grace” short http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=46806&vid=1&pid=819396. I’d love to see you rock a Team Sparkle skirt. The hardest part is choosing a color!
