Hood to Coast 2011: The Vans

by This is Carrie on August 31, 2011

When it comes to preparing for a relay race, decorating the vans is super important (at least in my book).  Nuun hooked us up with big, white, 12 person vans – a beautiful, blank canvas for our “tie-dyed” psychedelic art to go along with our team name, AfterNuun Delight (which BTW, is a funny but not a very catchy tune–we opted instead to blast “Pumped Up Kicks” on repeat for 28 hours straight).

I’ve had car magnets made before, but the ones we got from Build a Sign were totally awesome and key to giving our vans that homemade yet professional look.  You really couldn’t miss us.

And I can’t talk about the vans without talking about our amazing van driver, Ken.  Not sure what could’ve phased this 23 year old Nuun employee.  He stayed calm, cool and collected under the pressure of navigating the relay course while trying to keep a van full of crazy, running, women happy.  While I was worried we’d scare him right off the bat (especially me with my breast pump), I’m pretty sure he fell in love with us.  Why else would he make us a mix CD?

P.S. Next year, Ken needs to make about 10 mix CD’s.

You can find all my Hood to Coast posts HERE.

Love the photos!! Our vans looked amazing and that was mostly due to you!! Thank you for designing our amazing logo (and being so patient with us as we went back and forth endlessly) and coming up with the inspiration for the entire thing. These were the best looking vans I’ve ever ridden in during a relay! 🙂

Hi, Love the fab pics. Your Van is on point. What brand/type of markers did you use? Also was cleaning a pain? What works best to clean off the ink? I’m running my first Ragnar in 2 weeks. yippee.

These vans look great! I know I’m years behind but did you ever figure out the best markers? I have a Ragnar in a few weeks and am trying to figure out how to not damage our vans. Thanks in advance!
