Hood to Coast 2011: The End

by This is Carrie on September 28, 2011

I think I’ve let the Hood to Coast Relay posts drag out so long becauase I don’t want to admit it’s really over.  It was an amazing experience to run the “mother of all relays” with Nuun. Part of me wants to say it was the chance of a lifetime but the other part sure […]

Making Stuff: The Ten Minute Tunic

by This is Carrie on September 28, 2011

This piece of yellow striped knit fabric and Jenny’s tutorial for the Ten Minute Tunic were just meant to be together.  My tunic is more of a “30-minute tunic” since it was my first shot at the tutorial and I decided to hem all the edges instead of leave them raw.  Princess has declared it […]

Hood to Coast 2011: Legs 8, 20 & 32

by This is Carrie on September 28, 2011

Relay runners can often be identified by their reflective vests, slap bracelets and lighting attached to random body parts. LEG 8: 4.55 mi (easy) “Downhill and rolling terrain along country roads and limited paved shoulder.” (6:08pm) Since my first leg started after 6pm, I was required to carry a light of some sort even though […]

Hood to Coast 2011: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

by This is Carrie on September 27, 2011

I’ve pretty much covered all the Good the Hood to Coast Relay experience had to offer. Now it’s time for the Bad and the Ugly. During the welcome party Nuun graciously threw for the teams the night before the race, I spent my time puking in the Nuun office bathroom trying to will myself well.  […]

Making Stuff: Party Dress {Old Dress Refashion}

by This is Carrie on September 26, 2011

Another dress from the thrift store with so much promise. STEPS 1 . Shorten skirt about 4″ (I took it off at the skirt waist instead of the hem). 2. Replace “dead” elastic at waist with new elastic. 3. Cut off sleeves and re-hem. 4. Pair with belt. Find more of my women’s refashions HERE.

Hood to Coast Relay 2011: The Views

by This is Carrie on September 26, 2011

In the Hood to Coast Relay (as in most relays), Van #2 doesn’t start at the official starting line, so we missed seeing the beauty that is Mt. Hood, but we got a few spectacular views of our own. That first misty morning after running all night was definitely one of the highlights. As was […]

Hood to Coast 2011: Good Hygiene

by This is Carrie on September 22, 2011

You’re in a van with 5 other sweaty runners for 27+ hours. There are no beds or showers on the course. And there are only “honeybuckets” for toilets for 200 miles. Some teammates don’t even change their running clothes between legs (I’m raising my hand!!). Good hygiene is pretty much unattainable in these circumstance, but […]
