Another dress from the thrift store with so much promise.
STEPS
1 . Shorten skirt about 4″ (I took it off at the skirt waist instead of the hem).
2. Replace “dead” elastic at waist with new elastic.
3. Cut off sleeves and re-hem.
4. Pair with belt.

Thanks for the wonderful compliment. Balance is such a slippery thing to hang on to, but I try. I’d love to take you thrifting sometime! Maybe someday I’ll make a video of one of my thrifting trips and share all my secrets 😉
Ooh I love this revamp, the little cap sleeves are gorgeous x

Thanks! I was relieved that the rolled hem on the cap sleeve turned out okay. I was pretty worried.

did you take the sleeves off to cut them and hem them and then reattached them? or did you leave them on the dress the whole time?
Love it!!!

Thanks for the extended comment Jill! My girlfriend got so sick of not being able to write short comments on my blog, she once wrote a novel. I think it was like 27 paragraphs. It was hilarious.
You’re killing me with these dress makeovers! So gorgeous and inspiring that I had to come out of lurking to comment. You are amazing. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for delurking! It’s nice to know people are reading and enjoying the refashions as much as I love doing them!
Love It! I need to find a thrift store and do some refashioning. I keep saying that I am going to, but i never seem to do it. Maybe it’s my fear of not being creative enough.

I love this dress – its the perfect re-fashion! Wish I was as crafty/talented as you 🙂
oooh – I’m jealous! This turned out great!!
Where do you find your belts?
So TALENTED!!! I need to do more of this with my low low clothing budget..
I am so impressed with this! Such vision to see the after when you’re looking in a thrift store. I love the short cap sleeves.
Like another commenter, I too am impressed with how you seem to balance an active and creative lifestyle with work and kids. You’re an inspiration!!!
This dress refashion is stunning. I’m inspired and can’t wait to visit the local thrift shops for treasures to refashion!
Google brought me here . I was just thinking to alter a similar style top with long sleeve to cap sleeve. My question it, how to I do it? Is there a technique to cutting the cap sleeve?
