Making Stuff: Semi-Homemade Gypsy Costume {DIY Halloween}

by This is Carrie on October 28, 2011

This year, I knew I needed to be realistic with the amount and intensity of homemade Halloween costuming I took on.  Princess has had labor intensive costumes for the past few years so it was time for a “semi-homemade” costume this year.  In one trip to our favorite thrift store, we found everything we needed (and for under $10).

Esmerelda from the Hunchback of Notre Dame

Women’s skirt: $2.99 (added a piece of elastic at the waist to make it fit)
Head scarf: $1.99
Waist scarf: $2.99
1 gold hoop earring, old necklace & gold bracelets: Free from mom’s jewelry box
Blouse: Free from her closet (you might recognize it from her “Maria” ensemble)

This costume reminds me of Esmeralda in Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame. She is lovely 🙂

Adorable and love that you paid so little. Your daughter looks gorgeous and so very happy with her costume!
