Making Stuff: Candied Almonds {quick & easy neighbor gift}

by This is Carrie on December 21, 2011

My mom has been making this candied almond recipe at Christmas for as long as I can remember and now I know why. The are super easy and so delicious. I had to shoo the kids away so we had enough for our neighbor gifts!

Easy Candied Almond Recipe

Bring to a boil:

1 cup sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1/8 tsp cardamom (my addition but totally optional)

1/4 cup canned milk

Take off the heat when mixture reaches the soft ball stage.

Add:

1 tsp vanilla

3 cups of almonds (or walnuts, or pecan, or whatever!)

Stir until coated. Pour nuts onto a sheet of wax paper in a single layer to cool (I sprinkled on some sea salt at this point because I love the sweet and salty mix).  Once cool, break apart and package!
