The Love Scarf Project Delivery

by This is Carrie on February 16, 2011

In the four years I have worked with and donated to The Love Scarf project, I have never been able to make it to City of Hope for delivery day. That changed on Monday.  The stars aligned. I wasn’t sick and the babysitter didn’t cancel.

The delivery was quite a labor intensive process requiring crazy amounts of hand-washing, glove changing, mask-wearing (and sometimes gown donning) before going into each room. But no amount of work was too much once we saw the smiles our scarf and cap deliveries brought as we chatted with the patients.

Helping the male patients pick out beautiful scarves to give to their Valentines after they had picked something nice for themselves had to have been the highlight of the afternoon.  Smiles tripled in size.

It was the best Valentine’s Day ever (Todd and I aren’t crazy romantic, so I guess it wouldn’t take much, but still).

I love that you do stuff like that for Valentine’s Day!

what a wonderful thing to do on Valentines day, I’ve never bothered with it much we don’t in Australia but now I want to follow your lead and next year I’ll be finding some way to spread the love not just buy a card with the word on it.
