Princess loves giving handmade birthday gifts. With her group of friends age 9 (going on 15) this one was quickly deemed one of the “coolest” she’s ever made.
Supplies:
Blank T-shirt (she picked a neon yellow one from Target)
Zip Screens and Zip Screens Paint
Scrap piece of cardboard the size of the screen
Martha Stewart Multi-use Heat Tool (optional)
Until now, screen printing has been reserved to those who have the expensive equipment to “really” do it or those who have the time to do the “cheater” version. These Zip Screens are the real deal and are easy enough for a nine year old. The paint and squeegee process of traditional screen printing is combined into an all-in-one applicator which means it’s not only easy, but a cinch to clean up.
Once the paint is pulled through the screen (which has a reusable tacky back to keep it in place), it is then peeled off to reveal the finished product–everyone’s favorite part.
Since sparkles are all the rage with the 9 year old crowd, we added a few iron-on rhinestones. In the past, I’ve clumsily done it with my iron, but this past year, I won a Martha Stewart multi-purpose heat tool from the So Cal Social event I attended, so we decided to try it out. I’m totally sold. Love that little tool.
