Race Recap: Ogden Half Marathon {kids race}

by This is Carrie on September 8, 2012

Todd and I weren’t the only ones in our little family to race during the Ogden marathon/half marathon day of festivities.  Princess and Pumpkin ran the 5K with Grandma and a few of the bigger cousins. Big Brother ran the Kids 1K with a bunch more of the smaller cousins.  Realizing that Baby Brother was the only one in our family that wouldn’t be racing that day, I signed him up for the Kids K at the very last minute.

I love the way Pumpkin always pushes herself down the final 50 yards of every race.  That’s pure grit and determination right there.

5K Finish Time: 32:48

Pace: 10:33

Overall: 345 out of 816

Women: 157 out of 516

Age group (1-12): 20 out of 50

Princess jut keeps getting faster and faster. It helped that her male cousin was there pushing her to run faster.

Finish Time: 28:03

Pace: 9:02

Overall: 177 out of 816

Women: 51 out of 516

Age group (1-12): 10 out of 50

The girls convinced their 8 year old cousin to join Team Sparkle.  He rocked a 27:54 5k in that pink skirt.

Big Brother ran the kids K in a custom made Sparkle Cape that made him run “super-awesome-fast”

Baby Brother enjoyed every minute of his first race, especially all the cheers from his adoring fans. Not wanting to be left out of the sparkly running fun, he rocked a black Team Sparkle skirt.

Thanks Ogden Marathon/Half Marathon for a day full of awesome running and fun family memories!

O my goodness both of your girls are faster at the 5k than I am! Apparently I need to learn from their spirit and determination and push myself too! 🙂 So fun that your whole family runs!!

I finally just put 2 and 2 together and realized that the awesome running blogger who I follow is the same Carrie organizing the 5k for Sewing Summit! I’m a bit intimidated now… your kids run faster than I do! Save me some breakfast k – you will be there atleast 20 min before me lol.

Great idea to organize a run tho – glad someone brought it up because I’d been thinking about it! It is hard to take 5 days off of running so I’m glad I’ve got atleast one morning covered 🙂
