With her new jersey, and custom “stealth” Team Sparkle skirt, Princess was ready to take on the inaugural Over the Hump Kid’s Mountain Bike Race. Lining up at the start line, we quickly realized she was the only girl signed up to race. Her proudest moment was powering to the top of a long(ish) gradual [...]

When we heard the Over the Hump mountain bike race series added a kid’s race, Princess definitely wanted to race it. She also wanted a racing jersey just like mom and dad’s. With the downloading of the team font, a free hand copy of the the team logo, and a little freezer paper stenciling, she [...]

I feel so lucky to have Sara over at IronMakeover write such a wonderful athlete profile about me (and Team Sparkle). If you get a chance, go check it out. And if you ever plan on training for a Triathlon, add IronMakeover to your blog reader. Lots of great tips and inspiration, especially for first-timers.

I don’t know what else says “Summer’s here!” like the start of the Over the Hump Mountain Bike race series. Todd and I decided to take turns racing while the other one is in charge of the cheering section (aka: kids). This year the course is awesome with the addition of a cool water …

7 hours, 21 minutes and 8 seconds of continuous mountain biking. 40+ miles with 8,000+ feet of elevation gain. This was Todd’s “marathon”. We couldn’t be there to cheer for him along on the course, but we were there ready with hugs (and a bunch of pride) at the finish line.

It was the first off-road triathlon Todd & I had ever done together so there was a little part of me that hoped I’d come out of the water before him. I had to count on him having a small panic attack somewhere during the swim, but it was possible. After the swim, there was [...]

Seems like it’s been ages since I’ve gone mountain biking. Even longer since I’ve gone with Todd. It was nice to get out with him and a few of our friends this past weekend and with an off-road triathlon just around the corner, it was high-time to get back into the groove. There was a [...]
