Triathlon Report: Xterra Renegade Off-Road Tri 2011

by This is Carrie on April 13, 2011

I’m not going to lie, my first post-baby triathlon gave me some serious race nerves.  Knowing I had only been on my bike twice since August coupled with the stress of fitting into my wetsuit & the fear of coming in last, made the butterflies a little crazier than normal. Todd tried to calm my […]

Mountain Biking Birthday

by This is Carrie on March 31, 2011

I’d been looking forward to this private mountain bike clinic/birthday party since Todd gave it to me as a gift in 2010. Weeks of delays turned into months as rain and conflicting schedules kept us from the perfect day for riding together with the true Mountain Biking Chick, Tonya Bray, former pro racer and the […]

Making Stuff: Old Girls Bike into New Boys Bike

by This is Carrie on February 17, 2011

When I told Todd about my big dreams of “refashioning” Princess’s vintage  Schwinn into a beautiful two-toned aqua bike with a Heather Bailey floral oil cloth covered banana seat, his first thought was that we needed to practice on the old, pink, kitty bike first, turning it into the perfect bike for our 2 year […]

Making Good Progress

by This is Carrie on January 30, 2011

Todd has a dream that Big Brother will be riding a real bike (without training wheels) before he turns three.  Thanks to the Strider balance bike, I actually think it’s possible.  He’s got two more months left to practice. Learning on the Strider Part 1, Part 2, Part 3

Adventures in Mountain Biking

by This is Carrie on January 25, 2011

They let me pick the trail so I guess I’m to blame for the adventure we had.  It started off with me forgetting my helmet (that’s when you know it’s been too long since your last ride). Then, unbeknownst to me, the recent bad weather had all but washed away the trail.  If I wasn’t […]

Making Stuff: Biking Baby Gown

by This is Carrie on November 16, 2010

Today I am officially overdue. In the meantime, I’ll be documenting the latest creations for baby (because the majority of my “nesting” has been done sitting at the sewing machine this past week), hoping he’ll soon be here to enjoy all the love just waiting to be poured out on him. The first in a […]

Another Biking Trophy

by This is Carrie on November 3, 2010

Princess is getting good enough on her mountain bike that Todd decided it was time to start taking her on longer, more challenging, Daddy/Daughter rides.  On their first 10 mile ride, she came home with an excellent trophy.  Luckily, biking trophies like these are valued just as much as the shiny metal ones in our […]

Making Stuff: Shrunken T-shirts for the Boy

by This is Carrie on October 22, 2010

Using this technique, I turned a couple of free (but large) mountain biking shirts we won at the Take Your Kid Mountain Biking event into a couple of shirts Baby Brother loves to wear.

Gifts for a Bike Lover: Joy Ride Print

by This is Carrie on September 29, 2010

Along with the awesome bicycle tote, I recently received this sweet bicycle print from good friend, Kage.  Aptly named, “Joy Ride” it reminds me that while I love bombing down a good mountain, I also love cruising around the neighborhood on my old Schwinn.

by This is Carrie on September 28, 2010

Thanks to the thoughtfulness of my girlfriend, Kage, this “Petal Power” bag from Survive Designs has quickly become one of my favorite totes.
