Join the Love Scarf Project

by This is Carrie on November 9, 2010

With the holiday season soon approaching, you may already have knitting and crocheting projects taking shape. If you’re on a roll, consider making up a few extra scarves and/or chemo caps for patients at City of Hope in Los Angeles, CA. Scarves and hats for the LA Love Scarf Project need to be ready in […]

Goodbye Halloween Candy 2010

by This is Carrie on November 4, 2010

Yesterday was the day we said goodbye to all the excess Halloween candy (save a few small bags of favorites).  Since we’ve been donating to Operation Gratitude for as long as the kids can remember, giving their candy is just as much of a Halloween tradition as getting it.

Collecting Pop Tabs

by This is Carrie on September 15, 2010

When I took Princess to drop off her collection of games to the local Ronald McDonald House, we found out about their Pop Tab fundraiser. Our local house (who started collecting & recycling pop tabs in 1998) has raised nearly $60,000.  It’s such a great way for kids to help out especially if your dad […]

Goodbye Hair

by This is Carrie on June 14, 2010

Princess has been wanting to cut her hair short for a while now. I talked her into growing it a little longer so she could cut off enough to donate to Locks of Love. After her 7 month fundraiser benefiting kids with cancer, it was a pretty easy sell. Every few weeks for the last […]

Garage Sale for a Good Cause

by This is Carrie on June 4, 2010

This is the final month of Princess’s 7 month plan to raise money to buy arts & crafts kits for kids at Loma Linda Hospital receiving treatment for cancer. It’s a plan she hatched last November when her 3 year old cousin was diagnosed with leukemia. While not all of her ideas actually panned out […]

by This is Carrie on March 13, 2010

It’s been three months since Princess started her “Kids Helping Kids campaign and I am proud to report, with the help of neighbors, friends and online donations she has raised $135 so far.  We still have a few more months until the hospital “might” let her in to make the delivery (stinky flu season) and […]

Two days before Valentine’s Day Love Scarf Project Founder, Bridger Fonger and a handful of helpers delivered over 150 hand knitted and hand crocheted scarves to City of Hope. Thanks to Elise from Cupcake Activist, a few other OC crafters (young & old), and a few hours of good tv,  these twelve scarves were Orange […]

Supercross Goes Pink

by This is Carrie on February 22, 2010

Todd figured if he was ever going to get his girls to enjoy a Supercross race, it would be one where everyone and everything would be decked out in pink to help raise money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. But even with all the pink, it was Baby Brother who enjoyed the Supercross […]

Dresses for Uganda

by This is Carrie on February 18, 2010

I had such a great time last week teaching a group of wonderful teenage girls how to make t-shirt dresses.  It was great to see some of the girls who weren’t that excited about a “night of sewing” quickly become passionate about their little dress. The seven dresses they made will be taken to an […]
