When I spotted this little boot design on Pinterest a few months ago, i immediately popped over to IThinkSew.com and bought the pattern. Best $4 I’ve ever spent since I think these boots are going to become my “go to” baby gift for the next little while (especially if I can keep finding houndstooth sport [...]

Using four vintage hankies and a dyed, newborn wrap shirt, a variation on the Newborn Wrap Dress Tutorial was born.

Way back when we lived in NYC, Maria was our adopted grandma. Since she didn’t have any family there and neither did we, we were happy to make her a part of ours. She was adorably funny and super talented but was taken too soon by a battle with cancer. Stupid cancer. After she passed, [...]

Nothing makes better “dress up” dresses than thrifted prom dresses from the 70′s and 80′s. They are more durable, more interesting, more afordable and they’ll fit kids that are bigger than size 3T. Why do big manufacturers assume kids stop dressing up after toddlerhood anyway? Steps: Yellow dress: Shortened straps, cut off third ruffle to [...]

Today I gathered together some thrifted fancy dresses and some fancy fabrics that have been sitting in my stash for years & shipped them off to Jane, an amazing Kenyan woman who has literally sewn her way out of poverty. Not only is she a sister sewist, she is a refashioner! She struggles though, to [...]

Princess requested an “End of the Summer Sewing Playdate” with a few of her closest girlfriends. How could I refuse? Each of the four girls (3 who had never touched a sewing machine or an iron and ironing board before) spent an afternoon picking out the fabric (great way to use up my vintage sheet [...]
