Princess did a revival of “You’re the Top” from her last show “Anything Goes” for the elementary school talent show. She wanted to wear something that would “sparkle” on stage. When I found a turquoise, sequin, women’s tube dress at the thrift store, I knew it would be perfect.

My first homemade kids “snuggie” was so well received, the receipient’s elephant loving sister requested one for her birthday as well. I found the perfect fleece too. **pattern for kids blanket with sleeves adapted from this “snuglet” tutorial.

Last week, I taught the “Actvity Day” girls how to make bags out of old t-shirts (with a little added freezer paper stenciling). It was a wonderfully satisfying, beginner sewing project.

Ever since the explosion of the Snuggie at Christmas, my girls have been coveting their own blanket with sleeves. While [...]

Even though it wasn’t gifted to me (unless I count it as a gift to myself), I must add this last item to my list of great gifts for the sewing enthusiast. Ruth Singer’s Sewing Bible is a wonderful resource full of pictorial sewing techniques for the beginner and “masterclass” tutorials for the pro. It’s [...]

BEFORE: A too-big western shirt of Todd’s destined for the Goodwill but before it got stuffed in the bag, it called out to me, begging to be made into a skirt for Princess. And I knew it had to have a yoke. It just so happened this western shirt had the perfect yoke on the [...]
