If you click on the “tutorials” button on the left sidebar you will fund the gown tutorial listed and I just checked the links and they seem to be working. Let me know if you have any more problems!

Hi Carrie,

I seem to be having the same issue trying to download the pdf. Is there anyway you could email the pattern to me?

Thanks! I LOVE this and would like to make one for my son who should be arriving any day now :)

I just found your blog through a convoluted series of DIY and sewing links, and I was pleasantly surprised to see you’re practically my neighbor! I’m a longtime dabbler in many areas of crafting, and I was wondering if you knew of any good sewing classes in our area. I have a 9 month old and a full time job, so time is at a premium, but I really would like to get past the pants-hemming skill level with my sewing machine. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Keep up the great blog!

Hey there. You’re doing what I want to do: triathalon. How’d you get started? Any texts, regimens, blogs you can recommend, I’d love the advice. Way to go on what you’ve accomplished so far!

do you by chance have any pictures of your sewing/craft/art room? I love sewing room ideas:-)

I keep thinking I need to snap a photo of my sewing space. It’s not a room, just a corner of a room. You don’t need much to be creative.

I just found you when I was trying to price things at J and M. Our uncle was a well known fabric handbag designer who recently died at age 91 and created up to the month of his death. He left an incredible amount of supplies-hundreds of rolls of fabric (mostly heavier weights like canvass and upholestry) thousands of zippers, brass fittings, thread, webbing (nylon and cotton Italian) and many commercial machines and hand tools. Same stuff that is in J and M’s catalogue. We would like to sell it to people who love creating at a substantial discount. Are you or your blogees interested in checking it out- We would need to probably schedule a weekend time as the sewing trove is in Jersey City and I live in Philly. Let me know of any interest. The two people that have seen the workrooms are amazed but he was always making beautiful things and buying supplies. let me know of any interest. Thanks mar kline 610-291-4583- my email is

:) Just went to put your (mom’s) amazing mushroom cookies on Pinterest… (are you on, I would really LOVE to follow you!) But the link isn’t working… I see someone else has posted your travel chair tute! Also, so wish you had a FB page for the blog, linking new posts… this is my new fave way to follow blogs, as it saves me a few steps, and reminds me when/where to check!

Love your stuff, thanks again!

Dear Carrie,

I just came across your link this morning! Love your ideas, I’m 62 and have been sewing for years, but you can always learn something new. I love thrift shops and now I am thinking about all of the times I’ve found a skirt or dress that the fabric was just wonderful (but not something I would wear). Now I know what to do with this gems! Your little model is adorable, I’ve used my grandbaby for photos of my creations. thank you for sharing….now I need to make a dress for a little lady!

Thanks for taking the time to write that nice comment! Totally made my day. Your granddaughter is super lucky to have someone to make her dresses. I hope she always realizes how special those dresses are.

Julia November 18, 2011 at 10:33 am

Hi, Carrie! I’ve been really inspired by all of your great thrifted re-fashions and baby stuff tutorials. I feel empowered to give my 3-month-old a wardrobe other than saccharine pink onesies…as soon as I find time to make it! I also want to try to make nursing tops (the ones with those super discreet open spots so no one can tell you have your shirt open in public) and was wondering if you’ve tried it before. I have some plans (fake cami panels in v-neck shirts, re-making empire waist tops with a pull-up panel, etc) but I was wondering if you had any experience.

This is Carrie

Hey Julia, I’ve never made myself any nursing tops. Never actually owned any either. I’ve always been fine with just throwing a blanket up. Good luck with your plans for baby clothes and nursing clothes!

I really don’t know how I sewed for so long without a pin cushion/thread catcher.

I have looked at a lot of thread catchers and really like the way yours looks. Do you have the pattern or tutorial for this? You did a awesome job putting it together.
