My Favorite NYC Fabric & Trim Stores

M & J Trimming
1008 Sixth Avenue
Between 37th & 38th Sts
212-391-6200
This place is true eye candy for the sewer/crafter. You won’t the best prices in the garment district, but you will find a huge, well organized selection.

Daytona Trimming
251 West 39th Street
(212) 354-1713,
Great selection of trims at great prices. Also carries some patterns and yarn.

Mood Fabrics
225 W 37th St, 3rd floor
212.730.5003
By far my favorite fabric store in NYC. Wonderful selection, helpful staff and the prices aren’t bad (but they’re not rock bottom either).

B&J Fabrics
525 7th Avenue (corner of 38th street)
212-354-8150
Not cheap but it is professional, organized and carries gorgeous fabrics

Tinsel Trading Co
1 West 37th Street
37th street between 5th & 6th Ave
212-730-1030
Gorgeous selection of vintage and new trims, millinery flowers & all displayed so beautifully, you may never want to leave.

Hyman Hendler
67 West 38th Street
(212) 840-8393
Gorgeous ribbon to be found under the dusty mess. But I kind of like that.

Jem Fabric Warehouse
355 Broadway
(212) 925-4488
This place is well worth the trip down to Chinatown if you want a true NYC fabric jobber experience and a good deal. It is jammed packed with all sorts of unorganized fabrics and trims. And the prices? Great (and usually negotiable). Bring cash.

But really, between 34th street and 42nd street and 9th avenue and 7th avenue is the garment district. Take an afternoon to wander and you’ll find all sorts of wonderful little jobbers and some great deals on beautiful and unique fabric and trim.

Those are some of my favorites too! Also check out Gray Line Linens for great linens under $10 a yard. I never leave the store without a bag full.

I would like to purchase 1/2 inch crinkled silk ribbon to make wrap bracelets. This is also called fairy ribbon. I would be interested in the raw silk ribbon, with finished edges (if possible) and I would hand dye same. Also, curious to see if stores carry this ribbon already dyed. Thanks for any information you can supply.

Personalised carrier bags can provide your business
with the type of targeted advertising that no other form of advertising can provide.
These are strong enough to support it and they come with long handles that
ensure its carriage to desired place without any difficulty.
They’ll send you daily ideas for how to reduce your carbon
footprint when you’re flying, where to buy the hottest organic clothing, and even
where to buy hand bags made completely from recycled candy wrappers.
In the case of White Carrier Bags you can
achieve both of above two concerns effectively.
The special feature of this bag is that it is food safe.

Their size and shapes may differ but all of them have a
thing in common. You could consider printing an eye catching slogan which will immediately encourage a passer by to take a better
look, for example why not advertise those special offers
and discounts along side your logo. In addition, they can keep the bottles at
any temperature as the bags are completely water tight.
This type is more expensive and preferred for packaging luxury products (clothes, perfume, cell phone.
Paper Carrier Bags are available in different colours and materials, and you can choose
the most appropriate bag, depending on your target audience.

Hi! I make clothing for a doll called a BJD (see my site). I usually buy clothing in tiny printed knits and cut them up. Its been my best and cheapest resource so far. I’m going into the city on Saturday with a friend and wondering if you know of any stores in particular that would have this in yardage. Mainly cutesy kid kind of stuff. Thanks!

I have looked at 3 places for a Darice Christmas ribbon, 2.5″ wide x 25 feet per roll. The local craft store (Pat Catans) buys the ribbon as ends of rolls and the boxes they receive are all different from store to store. The ribbon is a faux red velvet with a printed gold scroll pattern which looks a bit like leaves.

The ribbon was only 2.50 and similar ribbon online is running about 38.00 a roll, so you can see why I would like to find the ribbon for a deal.

Thanks to anyone who may have a suggestion.
