We were so excited to get a visit from Flat Stanley. We had so many fun places to show him here in Southern CA! But alas, it was not to be. Flat Stanley fell victim to a tragic toaster accident while making a hot bagel for breakfast. His was a life cut short too soon. But, we knew he wouldn’t have wanted his life to end in a toaster tray, so we gathered his ashes into a tiny urn and gave him the adventures he deserved.
We spread some of his ashes at the beach in Oceanside, CA.
We spread some of his ashes at the elephant exhibit at the San Diego Zoo
And finally, we said our last goodbyes as we spread his remaining ashes at the Bellagio water fountains in Las Vegas, NV.
In Las Vegas we were able to meet up with a couple of Flat Stanley’s friends, Flat Fred and Flat Thomas. They were saddened when they heard the news of Stanley’s passing but through their belief in recycling, they knew they would see him again someday.
Thanks for letting Flat Stanley come for a visit. We are sorry he won’t be able to come back and make his travel report in person.
Much Love,
The Lundell Family

This is hilarious!! (in a tragic sorta way, of course) I remember the first time I found out about Flat Stanley I was a freshman in college and one of my roommates nieces brought him to visit campus…I think your had more fun, albeit posthumously 🙂

I laughed so hard at this. Our toaster broke earlier this week, so now I can think of us as a flat-friendly home.
Carrie — So sad to hear about Stan. His cousin is at our house waiting for more adventures! Thanks for giving me a good laugh.
I hope you guys are well.
