The bed rail we use to make sure Princess stays put on the top bunk (which isn’t supposed to use for bunk beds apparently) needed a make over BAD.
After raiding my stash of thrifted, floral sheets, taking a few quick measurements, and teaching the girls a lesson on why learning fractions is important for sewing, I turned this:

That is awesome!! I’d love to have the time to re-do my daughter’s bed rail – hers looks the same as yours, except it’s bright blue around the netting, not very cute with her pink / green bedding.
that looks awesome! we just converted our crib into a toddler bed and bought a similar rail. i made a slip cover so it would match the room’s colors but its no where as great as this!

What a brilliant idea! Bed rails are often available for resale, but I’m wary of reusing fabrics that have been around unknown beds (yes, I probably read The Velveteen Rabbit way too many times in childhood).
This is a great solution because it only maintains the hardware (which I can clean to my full satisfaction) and the condition of the covers becomes irrelevant.
Excellent!
Very cute! Love the fabric.
Be careful if the rail isn’t meant for the top bunk… when I was in a bunk bed (I’m 21 now.. so 17 or so years ago) I pressed on the rail too much and whatever kept it on snapped and I fell from the top bunk onto my face, only to be rushed to the hospital.
Just a word of advice!
Never thought I’d be commenting on the cuteness of a simple bed rail, but boy is that adorable! Great job fixing it up rather than trashing it! 🙂
Gorgeous! I’m going to have to raid my moms stash of “vintage” sheets. I’m so impressed that you can make that up on your own.
Wow, that’s incredible!
So cute and such a great idea!
What pretty fabric! That bed rail is gorgeous now!
