It takes more than a fun team, a fancy van and great outfits to run a successful Ragnar relay race. That’s why we asked a few of our favorite companies to join us on our 200 mile ultra adventure.
Honey Stinger waffles are my favorite for pre-race fueling (gu and gels make me gag).
Delicious food from Fresh & Easy made it feel like home since that’s where I do the majority of my grocery shopping. If you don’t have a Fresh & Easy in your neighborhood, I am so very sorry. It is such a great grocery store.
With heat in the 100’s, Nuun kept us hydrated the entire time. The small tablet form is idea for relays where you need to save space. My favorite flavors: grape and banana (never thought I’d love the banana so much).
Our recovery drink of choice? Chocolate Milk. Along with Sparkle Athletic running skirts, this has been another one of the constants in all my relay running adventures. Nothing hits the spot better than chugging a cold chocolate milk after a hard run.
A supply of (not your grandfather’s) Bengay helped calm aching muscles (and helped cover the stank of 6 sweaty girls).
SPIbelts were key to holding necessary items like Honey Stinger chews, asthma inhalers, and phones; especially during legs that were unsupported by team vans.
And last but not least, how could we run without KT Tape? Wherever the pain is (knees, achillies, shins, IT bands, calves) KT Tape comes to the rescue. At one point during the race, I even used it on a mysterious pain across my ribs. I don’t know how it works, but it works.
Big thanks to the all the companies who made the products that helped power us through So Cal Ragnar 2012!
