1 night + 7 girls and their sewing machines = 20 cloth menstrual pads for girls in Africa (they’re finished except for the snaps–expect an e-mail mommymita). We probably could have gotten a few more finished if not for all the awesome menstruation related stories this sort of project inevitably brings to the surface.

But the stories were the best part of the night… oh and the bitter peach cobbler was good also. So fun, thanks for the service opportunity!
whoa….SO was not expecting that….but good job.
I like this pad pattern… can I ask which pattern you used?
alissa –
we went with this one. There isn’t actually a pattern, you just have to draw your own based on her pictures. I was thinking about uploading my finished pattern with the few changes we made to make them appropriate to donate for Goods 4 Girls. Maybe by the end of the week.
That’s funny, that’s the tutorial I used as well, but your pads look much cuter than mine. 🙂 I’d love to see your final pattern, and am also looking forward to your recycled t-shirt/newborn gown tutorial!
Enjoying your blog.
how can i become a part of this? the link is not working. please contact me. i'd love to make some!
Kathryn,
the girl who ran the program has discontinued it now. I don't think anyone has taken it over yet. I really wish someone would because I think it's so great. I'm keeping my eye out. If I hear of anything similar I'll let you know.
