It was my nine year old daughter who taught me how to make 3D Paper Snowflakes this year. We are having fun experimenting with all sorts of paper. Next up? Foam “paper” for an outdoor, weatherproof version to hang on the house!
Want to learn how to make them and don’t have a crafty nine year old around to teach your? I found this tutorial you can use.

These are so pretty! I want to learn how to make them.
They are so pretty!
These are great. In german blogs they are all over the place.
See my snowflake made of an old newspaper:

Wow, these are sharp! My son and I made Finnish paper stars this year, with okay results. I’d love to try another approach (especially if they’re easy enough for a 9 yo!)
Thank you for posting this. Last weekend, my boyfriend, his son and I spent hours trying to figure out how to fold paper, cut it correctly and make it a snowflake. These snowflakes are just so much cooler than the ones we were coming up with. I’ve been making these all week and hanging them from the ceiling.
Is there any special paper to do these?

No, you can use any paper you like. I made one of an old newspaper and it’s really great:

Here is a great link 🙂 They can be made any size really… just depends on your squares.
Hope this helps Janice! 🙂
