Halloween: The Real Deal

by This is Carrie on November 1, 2008

We went a little obscure this year. If you have daughters and you like books, you should know who this is.

Dad was sure no one would be able to guess Princess’ costume. I assured him the people who would know, would really know. And if you are one of those people, you were probably born in the 70’s.

Oh, and Baby Brother got the mom-made costume shaft. His Yoda costume was purchased at the kid’s resale shop around the corner. The money I saved buying a used costume will obviously have to go into his “my mom never loved me as much as my sisters therapy jar.”

I’ve been checking in frequently to see what you came up with – I especially love the Never Ending Story Princess but it is killing me – what was she named? It was the whole climax of the movie “Say my name”! and I can’t even remember it.

Kids sure come up with funny ideas. One year I had to make a Chocolate ice cream cone.

I don’t know you children personally but it seems their costumes fit their personalities. But where is the baby’s costume?

Oh, I LOVE Fancy Nancy there! She’s adorable!

mommymita,

It’s actually next to impossible to understand what “new name” Bastian yells out the window, but apparently it is Moon Child.

Now we all know.

And yes, the costumes fit my girls personalities perfectly. And I added a pic of the baby. 🙂

Carrie-
I love the Fancy Nancy!!! It’s so great that you have a little red-head to complete the costume perfectly! My 4 year old had a Fancy Nancy dress-up birthday this year so we are quite familiar with that story series… and the empress child was a great idea. Did anyone guess who she was? I would have know right away… can’t even remember how many times we watched that movie and thought she was so beautiful. Your daughter played the part perfectly. Looks like you had fun with costumes this year. I made two mermaid costumes… not too original but my 2 year old wanted to be “Yariel” (Ariel), and then my 4 year old decided that she wanted to be a pink mermaid, so there you go.. off to JoAnn’s I went to try and create something unique… ha ha ha!

“Say my name!”

I love your costumes. I love seeing all the fun things you make. I came to your blog right now to find the link to your Christmas frames to send my sister-in-law.

I just stumbled onto your site, but I knew BOTH Fancy Nancy and the princess from The Never-Ending Story! Without clicking for clues! And, yes, I was born in the 70’s!

As you know, my kids are OBSESSED with Neverending Story – they can’t get enough. So your costume for Princess is total perfection.

Love the Nancy costume! And yeah, I recognized the princess costume right away and yes, I was born in 72. I found your blog, er, can’t remember how but I’ve been enjoying reading it.
