Our Dog, Sugar

by This is Carrie on October 11, 2010

When we adopted Sugar, a pure bred Border Terrier, the previous owner told us abou the uncommon grooming procedure this dog requires called “stripping”. She also assured us it was really easy to do yourself once you got the hang of it.  She was a liar.

I don’t know what everyone else’s definitely of  “easy” is, but in the last (almost) 10 years we’ve owned her, we’ve learned the process is not only incredibly time consuming, it leaves your hands aching and the dog onry from the hours and hours of yanking out the topcoat hair by the root.

We’ve finally found a groomer that will do the hand stripping for us and the new dog that emerges from each trip never ceases to amaze us.

Wow, that is quite the makeover. We have a chihuahua mix that really needs to be shaved monthly. He kinda looks like Sugar’s before picture right now. My husband shaved him during summer, but wow, he missed some spots.
