OC Chili Winter 5 Mile Trail Run

by This is Carrie on March 21, 2011

Even though i couldn’t ever imagine myself wanting to eat chili at 9:30 in the morning, once the OC Chili Winter 5 Mile Trail Run was over, the hot chili provided by the race sponsors was so delicious!

It was my first trail running (only) race & now I’m beginning to think trail running it far superior to road running (just like mountain biking is far superior to road biking).  While the challenge of the uphills made me want to cry a little, the thrill of flying down the hills with reckless abandon thoroughly made up for it.  Coming in 4th out of 14 in my age group helped make it even more awesome.  Elise came in first in her age group making everyone take notice that Team Sparkle is in it to win it.

My time: 48.49 (pace: 9:45)

Quickest mile: 8:12  Slowest mile 13:00

Elevation gain: 660 ft

Train running rules – it’s hard but it makes you feel like a warrior!
