Roller Skating Girls

by This is Carrie on July 14, 2011

That’s my mean roller derby girl face at a last minute roller skating birthday party for my good friend, Kelly.  Though costumes were optional there was no way I was going to miss my chance to rock barbie knee pads, hot pink leggings, a Team Sparkle skirt and a helmet. Now I just need the skills to match my look.

If you live in Orange County and want to take a trip back in time (like back to 8th grade when you’d break into a cold sweat when the “couples” song comes on because you didn’t know who you were going to hold hands with) definitely head over to Holiday Skate.  The people watching is reason alone–especially if Kelly, Julie, Elise, Elizabeth and I are there again.

I totally looked into the Queens roller derby team, I wanted to try out….but my recent dental work and subsequent bill has totally deterred me. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE it I am sure.

I am in my 30s, a SAHM to 4 kids, and have just taken up roller derby.

IT IS AMAZING.
