Gingham Dog & Calico Cat Birthday Party: The Costumes

Every time Pumpkin talked about the plans for her “Dog and Cat birthday party” she would remind me that all the boys needed to be dogs and all the girls needed to be cats.  Leave it to me to have a bin full of fur fabric in my stash as well as some gingham and calico fabrics (to keep the ears in line with the theme of course).  We also did some simple face painting to help the kids really get into character.  Cheap black eyeliner from the $1 store works great!

After getting transformed into either a dog or a cat, the kids got to create and decorate their own collars and nametags.  These chipboard tags worked perfectly once attached to a ribbon with a large jump ring.  I added a little piece of sticky velcro at the back to make it easy to get on and off.  I loved seeing the pet names they picked out for themselves.  We had 3 “Sparkles”, 2 “Tigers”, “Rosey”, “Jack”, “Copper”, “Baby Pup”, “C

Did your daughter choose a charity to donate items….have you instilled this action since their first birthdays. My son will be 4 next year, and I’m considering a donation request.
