It’s one of our favorite days of the year. 140 people (80 kids) took to the trails in Orange County on the first Saturday in October to celebrate Take Your Kid Mountain Biking Day! I’ve never seen so many smiles per mile.
Showing up for the last 3 events with an ever growing number of children and bikes has coined us the name, “The First Family of Mountain Biking” by the event’s organizer. Now that is a nickname we can be proud of.
Check out the video of the event HERE.

I love this! We have three bike-riding kids at this point… maybe a couple of years before #4 joins in. I worry about her in a trailer… I think she’s the sort to figure out how to escape while on the move 😛

Pretty soon the youngest will be able to ride a “trail-a-bike”. That’s what our 3 year old does now and the baby is in the trailer. But we’ve pulled 3 year olds in a trailer while biking too!
What kind of trailer is that?? We want to take our baby biking but we’re not sure how old she should be/what kind to get…

We have the Chariot Cougar. We bought it 5 years ago and have never regretted our decision. It is THE BEST. I use it as my jogging stroller – started back 6 weeks after the baby was born using the “hammock” insert. This was our baby’s first mountain bike ride and he was 10 months. We pulled him on a few road bike rides (much smoother) starting at 8 months old. I think the suggested age is 1 year.
