My Favorite Southern CA Fabric & Trim Stores

If you live in Southern CA, there are tons of amazing fabric stores around. Every single one of these fabric stores in LA County and Orange County puts JoAnn Fabric Stores to shame in selection and price.

LOS ANGELES

Mood Fabrics
6151 West Pico Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA 90035
(323) 653-6663
When I had to move away from my beloved NYC Mood Fabric store, the only thing that gave me solace was knowing they would shortly be opening a LA Mood Store. Now, years later, it is still one of my favorite fabric stores to wander. The prices are high, but the diversity and quality in their selection of fabrics in unbeatable.

Michael Levine
920 Maple Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90015-1812
(213) 622-6259
You can wander around the LA garment district forever searching from store to store for what you are looking for at a good price. Or you can just go here where the store is huge and well organized. Not rock-bottom prices (and they are non-negotiable like surrounding small jobbers) but you can save a lot of time.

ORANGE COUNTY

M & L Fabrics
3430 W Ball Rd
Anaheim, CA 92804
(714) 995-3178
Great prices and a hugely random selection of fabrics and trim.

My Long Sewing Machines, Fabric & Trims Co.
11662 Trask Ave
Garden Grove, CA 92843
714-537-2408
Don’t let the exterior of this place turn you off because there are treasures to be found inside! Rock bottom prices on a completely random selection of fabric, trim, buttons and zippers.

J&C Fabrics
7130 Westminster Blvd
Westminster, CA 92683
(714) 799-5519
I stumbled upon this little gem totally by accident. It’s a small store packed with great pieces of knit fabric at crazy good prices. You can also find some trim and racks of random woven fabric as well.

Hi, the $2 dollar store is not called that any more. Stil a good place to try. They mostly have upholstery Fabrics. If you come to sacramento area, in Roseville there is Triad, which is all upholstery BUT AMAZING prices and selection.

What is the $2 fabric store called now and is there one in your area? We used to have one here in Lancaster and I miss it sooo much. Sometimes I get up there in your area.

I am looking for a store near Long Beach to buy Japanese fabrics, especially woven Japanese fabrics. Any suggestions? I’ve tried the local Joanns, etc but haven’t found what I was looking for.

I haven’t checked now but there were a couple in Gardena and north Torrance (said Hawaiian prints but a friend told me they had Japanese prints too)… was looking a couple years ago…. maybe still there.

Momen Fabric in Old Torrance has a wonderful selection of Japanese fabrics.

Unfortunately Momens closed shop back in mid 2017 after a fantastic sale. I was sorry to see the shop close as they had a wonderful selection of unique fabrics/notions.

Glad to find this page, a lot of i formation. Last time I was in Joann’s (used to be a great source) the quality of cotton prints (beach pants) was so poor, there was nothing I would consider, low yardage on bolts too (not enough fabric if had found something decent)… I’s stopped in M&L some years ago, a lot of novelty prints but not what I was looking for… I have not tried any of the smaller shops listed in the areas north of Torrance…
I wanted to add…… AAA Sewing…… on Pacific Coast Highway (maybe Lomita or Torrance) they have a small selection of quilting weight fabrics but all really good quality and nice prices, a nice selection of colors (only three tables two sides, but I found several pieces I liked) a good selection of notions and good service and tempting sewing machines. My only problem with them is they are closed my days off…. Sun/Mon.

I am looking for a good source for faux fur. I am looking for different, interesting, unique faux fur…not just shaggy style. Does anybody know a good source or place to find some?

Thanks!!

Hi I am looking specifically for organic heather grey fleece fabric…. like worn-in/ vintage looking fleece. Like your coziest old sweatshirt… does that exist?

I hardly create responses, but I looked at some of the remarks on My Favorite Southern CA Fabric & Trim Stores | This Mama Makes Stuff.
I do have a few questions for you if you do not mind.
Could it be just me or does it look as if like some of the comments come across as if they are
coming from brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are writing on other online social sites, I’d like to keep up with anything new you
have to post. Would you list of all of your public sites like your
Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

To everyone still following this post: Fabric Outlet at the corner of Beach Blvd and Cerritos Avenue in Stanton, CA is a fantastic resource as well. It’s right around the corner from M&L.
