Not Your Mama’s Craft Night (kindly hosted by my cool friend Kelly) consisted of T-shirt Transformations this month. In preparation, I made an infant gown pattern to share around (and a rockin’ sample to test the pattern). I also brought my latest pair of fab t-shirt crop pants (made from my turning-30-doesn’t-suck-because-I-am-at-a-Garth-Brooks-concert-T) and the how-to information for making such a pant. More pictures here.
During the actual craft night I only had time to make up one little pair of t-shirt pants. But I had even more fun helping friends make T-shirt transformations of their own.
Check out the awesome creations of Chloe (who just happened to be visiting), Chelsea &
Kelly.
And here are some more t-shirt transformations from my past:

Maui is Cool
Harley Davidson Dress
Stripey Pants
I Heart T-shirt Pants

P.S. Did you notice the studs down the side of my Garth pants? Bringing the Bedazzler back baby.

You don’t know me from Adam, but I found you through Kelly’s blog and am totally impressed with all of the cute things you are making from old shirts!! I’m having a baby girl soon and totally have old concert shirts that I’d love to turn into little gowns-is there any way I could get that pattern you used to make them or a tutorial of some kind? I can sew, but I’m just not sure if I’m creative enough to come up with how to begin….
Also, on the Harley shirt/dress on your Flickr account, did you use a contrasting cotton fabric for the top or is that just more t-shirt? Sorry for all the questions!! Thanks!
you rock! the pants are hot!
you rock! the pants are hot!
Hey Bethany!
Thanks for the compliments. You’re welcome to comment on my blog anytime!:)
I think Kelly is going to hook you up with the pattern for the gown.
As for the Harley dress, it is a piece of brown crocheted lace sewn in a square yoke shape. I think if you click the link and then click forward or back you will find a close up picture of the yoke.
And just have fun experimenting with the shirts. You’ll come up with some great things I am sure!
I do love these pants…They are super comfy.
I am also a Garth Brooks fan and think your pants are cute enough to actually wear out in public.
I’m going to have to make another pair that I too can wear out in public – the tie dye ones are fun but…
I’ll also make some for all the babies!
Thanks for the idea
Thanks Carrie! Kelly said that you guys just took apart an existing gown ..I’m just a little worried about the sleeves-if you have any hints about that, I’d love to hear!!
You guys did inspire me to try my own t-shirt transformation. I started with a little dress (kind of like a pillowcase dress). I need to make the arm holes smaller next time, but overall, I like the way it turned out. Here’s the link if you want to take a look:
