In the past, I have tried to sell broccoli as cute little trees. Lately, this tactic hasn’t been aiding in broccoli consumption like I had hoped. But then, this conversation ensued:
Princess: What are all the tiny little parts of the broccoli called?
Me: I don’t know?
Princess: You’d better Google it.
So I did. And I was quickly reminded that all those tiny little bits are lots of little unopened flower buds. Now broccoli stems are flower bouquets in our house and it’s made all the difference.
