Here’s how the story goes:
This house was sold for $1. The catch was that the new owners had to move it off the property.
Apparently this type of real estate deal happens all over the place. Crazy.

We had two of those move into our neighborhood! It was SO COOL to watch the trucks bring the house- they take down the lampposts and power lines. One of them ended up being a historical landmark. Way cool!
This happened in Fullerton about a year and a half ago. It was so cool to watch. They actually couldn’t fit the house where it was supposed to go so it sat on two-story high stilts for 3 days. It tripped me out every time I drove by.
…wait, what!? This happens all the time??? Where have I been and where can I get a house for $1????
Getting the house for $1 is a deal, but having to move it is no cheap deal! It is EXTREMELY expensive. But for some folks it is oh so worth it! And yes, Kristina, it happens all the time. You should see houses here that were ground level that are now on 13-20 foot stilts to follow flood zone regulations! It is all done the same way. Glad my house is on a slab–it can’t be moved that way. ~Shelly~
I’ve seen this done before and it is amazing. I am so happy that they preserve these beauties!
The guys who moved the house into our neighborhood said is about $100,000 per mile moved… so if you have a spot close by, it’s an awesome deal- if not, well…
