The day began with Todd giving The Baby the most beautiful blessing a mother could ever want for her child, followed by an unusually wonderful church service (when I’m wrangling 4 kids I don’t expect to get much out of church), some delicious food enjoyed with visiting family, and a long nap.
The Baby wore the same outfit I made for Brother’s blessing two and a half years ago–a tan linen jumpsuit with stitching details inspired by a Guayabera--a style of shirt my father (a Mexican by birth) loves to wear. Not only did The Baby take on my father’s style today, he also inherited Grandpa’s name (and it’s looking like he might get Grandpa’s cleft chin too).
About 5 minutes before the new year hit, I finished writing the story of The Baby’s birth. If you like to read that kind of stuff, you can find it here (I dated it back to November so it never showed up on the front page).

He is a darling little guy, and that is an awesome outfit. Congratulations on blessing your new little guy.
What a beautiful baby boy.
I’m confused- by mexican by birth do you mean born in Mexico to american parents or born with mexican blood? Either way, its so cool that your children have that heritage.

He was born in Mexico and his mother was part Mexican but he moved to the states in his early teens. He doesn’t really identify himself as Mexican anymore, but we all love knowing that we have that family heritage and work to incorporate the food and traditions into our lives now.
What a beautiful baby!
What a cutie! My girls have been carrying his birth announcement around the house with them all day yesterday.
I only have two blessing outfits – a boy one and a girl one. The both have seen good use a few stains but that’s what makes them special.
Love this outfit!
We blessed our little guy on Jan. 2nd too! What a great way to start off the New Year. He’s adorable.
P.s. Just starting to think you were pegnant when you ran almost a marathon for eat.blog.run.!!! Am I totally off in left field, or is this right??

Yep, I was 12 weeks pregnant for the relay then ran a full marathon at 16 weeks. It’s a nice memory I will always have of this pregnancy.
