Making Stuff: Stupid Lupus T-shirts {homemade gift}

by This is Carrie on May 27, 2012

May is National Lupus Awareness Month!

I have this friend who has Lupus. Pills aren’t handling the symptoms anymore so now she has to get infusions of a special drug every month at the hospital. Not only do the new drugs make her feel all sorts of yucky, having to spend hours away at the hospital each month when you have 4 children at home makes it an even more crappy situation.  These shirts are for her.  I hope they make her smile.

Iron- on letters from from NextStyle are a super easy way to create a custom t-shirt that will make your friends smile and can be found online and at your local Walmart.  For these shirts I used Purple Glitter (purple is lupus’ color), Black Flocked and Collegiate iron-on letters.

A special shout out to Allison of  Petit Elefant for the #stupidlupus hashtag I saw on twitter that inspired the “Stupid Lupus” shirt.

disclosure: I was provided iron on letters free of charge from FashionArtProjects.com. The opinions and ideas expressed are all my own.

Thanks Maggie! I had no idea May is National Lupus Awareness month!! I do remember now that my girlfriend told me that purple was “the color” for lupus, but I didn’t even think about that when I used the purple glitter letters. Awesome!
