Amidst all the holiday prep and holiday celebration, Princess lost her first tooth.
Thanks to the “$5 first tooth” precedent set by the neighbor’s Tooth Fairy, our Tooth Fairy found herself at Albertsons at 10pm needing not one but 5 $1 gold coins (something the Tooth Fairy had always wanted to give instead of bills). With the help of a store clerk who also had experience with the Tooth Fairy, our Tooth Fairy exited the store with 3 $1 coins and a $2 bill.
The fairy dusted left by the Tooth Fairy said:
“Congratulations on losing your first tooth! As with all first teeth, I will let you keep this one to save in your baby book. I have left you $5, but don’t spend it all in one place. I hope you will save some, share some, then spend some. Keep on wiggling those other teeth. I can’t wait to come back and visit soon!
-The Tooth Fairy”
And then the Tooth Fairth proceeded to accidentally leave the glitter/”fairy dust” container on the bathroom counter for Princess to find in the morning.
She may be on to me.

I love your tooth fairy tradition 🙂 And I can't believe that she is 7 and just lost her 1st tooth! Then again, The Boy ripped 2 of his first 4 out, so I guess that doesn't count…
I love that you had the coins and the $2 bill. Awesome. Very cute story.
Hmmm. Our tooth fairy must be talking to your tooth fairy. Cause the $5 first tooth thing is pricey. The $1 each subsiquent tooth is bearable. But VERY glad that my tooth fairy hadn't heard about the gold coin thing until we were well in to our relationship (neighbors in this case also)… so she was off the hook! 😉
Oh how I love the Tooth Faery! Seriously, She's right up there with Santa. In our house she would come through the bedroom window, we knew this because there would be tiny tiny gossamer foot print of her tiny tiny high heels, and faery dust on the pillow and sheets to boot. Tiny hand written notes were left to encourage brushing and flossing and promises of pretty and pristine teeth being made into diamonds, and of course a crisp new dollar bill.
I think she left a good impression on at least on of the kids, who told us in 4th grade she would grow up to be a good faery (as a career)and then grew up to be a real Tooth Faery! (She's a hygienist!)
Congratulations on your adventures in tooth faery land!
Kevin said inflation should effect the tooth fairy so the $5 is a fair price for a tooth these days.
I wish I would have read this post sooner. My daughter lost her 1st tooth last week. I would have loved the fairy dust, note and keeping the first tooth. Instead she left her tooth in the toothfairy pillow that Grandma made and the toothfairy left 4 quarters. My daughter is still carrying those quarters around.
Just wait until you fall asleep and the tooth fairy forgets to drop by and you wake up to tears and drama! Fortunately for us, it was a Sunday and old Ms. TF takes Sundays off!
