When I spotted this little boot design on Pinterest a few months ago, i immediately popped over to IThinkSew.com and bought the pattern. Best $4 I’ve ever spent since I think these boots are going to become my “go to” baby gift for the next little while (especially if I can keep finding houndstooth sport coats with cool buttons at the thrift store for $1).

*note: I was very impressed with the pattern. After the many poor quality “for sale” patterns I have seen on the internet, this one was really refreshing. The instructions were only confusing because the author over explains otherwise simple procedures in cutting and sewing. But if you are a beginner, this is great for you! My only other tip, if you decide to take on this project, would be to sew the lining sole to the lining upper with a slightly larger seam so there is less bulk on the inside of the shoe.

How long did it take you to make them?
These are darling.
I too got this pattern and excitedly made these for my daughter. They turned out SUPER cute. BUT they FALL OFF! I have spent hours changing and altering them and cannot get them to stay on 🙁

i too bought the pattern, but i also had the idea to repurpose a sport coat, so i fudged the pattern to make it work for me. I made these in a toddler size 6 by gluing the fabric to an old flip flop that i cut the straps off of. i ended up adding elastic at the heel. that helped, but still slipped. so i added some folded over felt at the back heel for a little support. but her foot was still slipping back, so i added a loop of elastic around the front as well, so i now have to stuff her foot into the loop of elastic so it fits over the top of her foot. if i made them again, i’d do things differently, but i was improvising (alot). hth.
I bought this pattern too, but I have not had time to make them yet. I love your fabric choice!
I also bought her Jaden sneakers pattern and I did make those. Super cute!!
i having been eyeing this pattern for a while. Their site does not have a lot of feedback. I was worried about buying the pattern and not being able to make them. You would recommend making these?
I love this pattern for both boys and girls boots. I especially LOVE the idea of using up-cycled materials from old clothes to make them! I want to make a pair for each of my toddlers (a one year old girl and two year old boy) and I plan to use some Corduroy for my sons pair from his older brothers worn hand-me-down pair…and an old tweed skirt in more feminine colors for my daughters pair. I have a old leather purse that has a broken clasp but otherwise the leathers in like new condition, for the soles of both pairs. My only concern with buying shoe patterns is the need for a step by step tutorial because I’m fairly new to sewing at this level, but I know most patterns don’t provide that type of instruction…do you have any recommendations or sewing tips for this pattern in particular? It’d be great if you could do a general tutorial on sewing baby shoes…:)
